Unión (SF) focuses on a heavy mid-block presence to control the center of the pitch, utilizing a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup is built to play a compact game where the team stays close together to deny space to the opposition. The goal is to squeeze the space between the lines and win the ball back through a coordinated press. By packing the midfield, the side aims to frustrate opponents and strike when they can find space on the transition.

Meuli starts in goal to organize the back line. The defensive unit consists of a flat back four with Pintado acting as the right back and Ayala operating at left back. Maizón and Ludueña sit as the two central defenders, tasked with holding the line and winning the second ball. Pintado and Ayala provide width but must track back quickly to maintain a narrow defensive block. Maizón and Ludueña work together to defend zonally and ensure they do not get pulled out of position by runs in behind.

The midfield is the engine of this Unión (SF) formation, utilizing a five man unit to control the central areas. Menossi and Giaccone form a double pivot to shield the defense and cut off the passing lane to the opposition strikers. In front of them, Palacios and Luna work to connect the defensive and attacking lines, with one of them often tasked to drive forward with the ball. Cuello/Ramírez occupies the left central midfield role, pressing aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch. This group works to compress the midfield and ensure the team is never overrun in the center.

Up front, the team relies on a lone striker in Tarragona to lead the line. Tarragona acts as a pressing centre forward, working to pin the last defender and force long balls from the opposition. The attack is built through the wide midfielders and the central midfielders who look to play through the lines to find the striker. When the team wins the ball, they look to spread wide quickly to use the width provided by the wingers. Tarragona must hold up the ball to allow the midfielders to arrive late into the box and join the attack.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages by creating numerical superiority in midfield. By having five players in the middle, the team can easily outnumber many standard midfields and win the second ball. Another strength is the compactness when defending, as the narrow block makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the middle. This setup allows the team to shift between a mid-block and a high press depending on where the ball is located.
