ROBIN (81) · MPHO MOKGOSI (81) · MARCEAUX (84) · BELLAVOINE (84) · RADEBE (83)France focuses on a compact defensive unit and quick transitions through a 4-5-1. This formation aims to control the middle of the pitch and force opponents into wide areas before launching direct attacks. The team looks to sit in a mid-block to squeeze the space between the lines and use the central density to win the second ball.
KAMWANYA guards the goal and manages the defensive line from deep. The back four consists of JAUBERT at left back and G. VAUTRIN at right back, both tasked with tracking runners and covering the flanks. PREMIERE and CHIKORE act as the central defenders, working together to hold the line and defend zonally. They must stay compact to prevent through balls and ensure they do not get caught too high up the pitch.
The midfield operates as a five man unit to dominate the central zone. T. BERGER plays as a single pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession. Ahead of him, RADEBE and BELLAVOINE operate as two central midfielders who work to win the ball and drive forward. MARCEAUX provides extra cover in the central area to ensure the midfield remains dense, while P. ROBIN plays as an attacking ten behind the striker. P. ROBIN looks to find pockets of space and play through the lines to connect the midfield to the attack.
In the final third, France relies on a lone striker, MPHO MOKGOSI, to lead the line. Mpho Mokgosi acts as a pressing centre forward to bother the opposition centre backs and disrupt their build up. The attacking moves often involve the midfielders making late runs into the box to support the striker. The team looks to use the width provided by the wide midfielders to stretch the defence and deliver crosses into the area. When winning the ball, the plan is to hit in behind on the transition to catch the opposition out of position.
France gains a major advantage through numerical superiority in the midfield, making it very hard for opponents to play through the middle. The five man unit allows for a very compact defensive block that is difficult to break down. This formation also creates opportunities to isolate the striker against defenders during quick breaks.
This 4-5-1 formation is built for a team that wants to be hard to beat and strike on the counter. It is best suited for matches against dominant sides where France needs to sit deep and defend narrow.
