The midfield uses a combination of a double pivot and two advanced midfielders to control the center. Williams and Aina operate as the engine room, where Williams shields the defense and Aina works to intercept passes. Moving higher up, Schlager and Sangaré act as the two attacking midfielders who press aggressively to win the ball high. This midfield pairing connects the defensive unit to the front three by receiving the ball and playing through the lines.

In the final third, Nottm Forest utilizes three attackers to pin the last defender. Igor Jesus leads the line as a pressing centre-forward to disrupt the opposition build up. On the flanks, Gibbs-White plays as an inverted winger who likes to cut inside to create chances, while Ndoye stays wide to provide width and deliver early crosses. The forwards work in combinations to create runs in behind and isolate wide players in one on one situations.
