Oliver sits in goal to command his area and organize the defensive line. The back four operates as a flat defensive block, where Kaine and Miguel Ángel provide width from the flanks. Kaine is tasked to hold the line while Miguel Ángel looks to push up during attacks. In the middle, Aurèle and Joel act as the central pairing, with Aurèle often looking to cover space while Joel stays compact to protect the central zone. This unit must stay disciplined to avoid being caught out when the team commits many players forward.

The midfield relies on a double pivot consisting of Matt and Frank. These two players must work hard to cover the huge amount of ground between the lines. Frank and Matt are tasked to shield the defense and win the second ball whenever play becomes chaotic. They serve as the engine room, connecting the back four to the front four by recycling possession or playing through the lines. Their main job is to deny the turn to opposition players and ensure the team does not get overrun in the center of the pitch.

The attacking unit is highly aggressive, featuring two forwards in a partnership with Loum and Tatsuhiro operating as wide attackers. Loum and Tatsuhiro stay wide to stretch the defense, creating space for the central players. Taiwo and Ellis act as a dual strike force, with Taiwo looking to find the feet of the striker and Ellis making runs in behind. This front line is designed to press from the front, forcing the opposition back line into mistakes. The goal is to create quick combinations in the final third and deliver crosses into the box.

A major strength of this formation is the ability to create immediate pressure in the opposition half. By having four players high up the pitch, Coventry can press in pairs to win the ball back high up the pitch. This setup also provides great opportunities to isolate wide players in one on one situations when the wingers receive the ball in space.
