Celta focuses on a direct and aggressive style of play through a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and hit the opposition in transition. By using a heavy attacking lineup, the team looks to stretch the defence and create chaos in the final third.

IONUT guards the goal as the last line of defence. The back four operates as a flat back four to maintain a solid defensive block. ABDOULAYE and MANU act as the central defenders, with ABDOULAYE providing cover while MANU handles direct runs. JAVI at left back and JAVI at right back provide the width, tasked with tracking back to defend against wide players and supporting the attack when the team has possession. The unit must stay compact to avoid being caught out by long balls.

The midfield relies on a double pivot to control the center of the pitch. ALEIX and MIGUEL are responsible for shielding the defence and recycling possession to move the ball forward. ALEIX works to connect the defensive and attacking lines, while MIGUEL looks to carry the ball forward into the half spaces. They must be disciplined to prevent the opposition from bypassing the midfield, often dropping deep to help the defenders play out from the back.

In the attacking phase, Celta employs four attackers to pin the last defender. HUGO and JONES operate as wide wingers, with HUGO looking to cut inside and JONES hugging the touchline to stretch the pitch. In the center, HUGO and PABLO form a two forwards partnership. HUGO acts as a physical presence to hold up the ball, while PABLO looks to make runs in behind the defence. This front line is designed to press from the front and force errors from the opposition back line.

A major advantage for Celta is the ability to create wide overloads and catch opponents on the break. By committing four players to the attack, the team creates many one on one situations for HUGO and JONES. The double pivot of ALEIX and MIGUEL provides enough coverage to allow the full backs to push high, adding even more pressure. This setup ensures that the team can transition from a mid-block to a full attacking wave very quickly.

This 4-2-4 formation is a high risk and high reward tactic for Celta. It is best suited for games where the team needs to score goals quickly or face an opponent that plays a high line.
