Strasbourg aims to dominate through high pressing and immediate ball recovery using a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup relies on overwhelming the opposition in the middle third and committing bodies forward to pin the opponent back. The goal is to win the ball high up the pitch and move quickly toward the goal to exploit gaps.

Jørgensen acts as the lone man in goal to sweep behind a very high line. The defensive unit consists of a narrow back two with Mitchell and Høgsberg acting as central defenders. Because the team uses such a high line, Mitchell and Høgsberg must be ready to sprint back to cover long balls. They focus on winning the second ball and making sure the opposition cannot play through the middle.

The midfield is the engine of Strasbourg and operates as a dense five man block. Doué and Chilwell sit in a double pivot to shield the defense and recycle possession. Oyedele and El Mourabet operate in the half spaces to connect the defense to the attack. Reyna plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to drive forward with the ball and find ways to split the defense with a through ball. This heavy midfield presence allows the team to control the center of the pitch.

In the attacking third, the team uses three attackers to stretch the opposition. Nanasi and Yassine act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to provide width. They look to isolate one on one situations against full backs or deliver early crosses into the box. Panichelli operates as a lone striker to hold up the ball and wait for the midfielders to arrive late into the box. The front three press from the front to force a long ball and win it back high up the pitch.

The primary strength of this lineup is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By flooding the midfield with five players, Strasbourg creates numerical superiority in the center. This setup also allows for rapid transitions where Reyna can quickly find Nanasi or Yassine to attack the space. The compactness of the midfield makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the lines.
