Wolves focus on a direct and vertical identity using a 4-4-2 formation. This lineup is built to hit the opposition quickly and win second balls in the middle of the pitch. By playing with two banks of four, the team looks to compress the space and force the opponent into mistakes before launching attacks toward the front line.

Sabotajovi膰 plays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back four works as a zonal line where Poggers and Elg眉n act as the central defenders. Poggers is tasked with being dominant in the air, while Elg眉n provides cover to sweep behind a high line if the team pushes up. On the flanks, Lacoste plays as a defensive wing back to keep the line solid, while Hemmy looks to overlap the winger to provide width. The defensive unit aims to stay compact to prevent any runs in behind.

The midfield functions as two central midfielders and two wide players. Dagestan and Gumball form a double pivot in the center to shield the defence and recycle possession. Dagestan works to intercept play and break the line with forward passes, while Gumball is the carrier who drives forward with the ball to link the units. On the wings, Batur and DiGiovanni provide the width and track back to help the full backs. These four players work to squeeze the space in a mid-block to deny the turn to the opposition.

Wolves use two forwards in a partnership to lead the attack. Cuppa-T acts as a pressing centre-forward to trigger a press from the front, while M. Joe plays as a second striker in the hole to link up play between the lines. This duo creates constant movement, with M. Joe looking to arrive late into the box while Cuppa-T tries to pin the last defender. The team attacks in transition by looking to hit in behind on the transition using long balls or quick passes to the wide players.

A major strength of this Wolves lineup is the ability to press in a mid-block to force a long ball from the opponent. The double pivot of Dagestan and Gumball allows for numerical superiority in midfield when they squeeze the center. Additionally, the wide players and full backs can create wide overloads to whip it in toward the strikers. This setup makes the team very hard to play through.

This 4-4-2 formation relies on a disciplined defensive block and quick verticality. It is best suited for facing teams that dominate possession and leave space behind their midfield.
