Starting Lineup

GK · Ryan · Chandra · Chitra · LD · CDM · CDM · ADM · Khatri · LW · Naresh Sir

A heavy focus on direct attacking play and verticality defines this lineup in a 4-2-4. This formation is built to overwhelm the opposition through sheer numbers in the final third and quick transitions. By committing so many bodies forward, the team looks to pin the last defender and strike with high intensity.

The goalkeeper stands alone as the last line of defense. A flat back four provides the foundation, with LD acting as a defensive wing back to hold the right side. Ryan plays as the right centre back to cover space, while Chandra operates as the left centre back to defend zonally. Chitra plays as the left back and must track back quickly to prevent being caught out during transitions. This defensive unit must stay compact to prevent the opposition from playing through the lines.

In the middle of the pitch, the team utilizes a double pivot to manage the transition from defense to attack. CDM on the left and CDM on the right work to shield the defense and win the second ball. These two players are tasked to recycle possession and protect the space between the midfield and the back line. They must resist being bypassed by central runners and work to compress the midfield when the ball is lost.

The attacking force is incredibly potent, using four players to stretch the defense. Naresh Sir and ADM lead the line as a pair of center forwards, with Naresh Sir acting as a target man to hold up the ball. LW operates as a wide winger to provide width on the left, while Khatri plays as an inverted winger on the right to cut inside. This front four aims to press from the front and create runs in behind to punish high lines.

This formation offers massive advantages in terms of attacking numbers and speed of transition. By using four forwards, the team can isolate wide players in one on one situations and create overloads in the box. The setup allows for quick vertical passes to bypass the midfield entirely. This setup is particularly effective when looking to catch an opponent on the break or when chasing a goal.

The 4-2-4 lineup is a high risk, high reward system designed for aggressive, forward thinking football. It is best suited for games where the team needs to break down a low block or exploit a disorganized defense.
