Al-Hilal (KSA) Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Summerville · Benzema · Malcom · Savić · Neves · Kanno · Theo Hernandez · Koulibaly · Tombakti · Al-Harbi · BonoAl-Hilal seeks to dominate through high pressing and quick vertical transitions using a 4-3-3. This lineup is built to squeeze the pitch and pin the opposition in their own half through constant pressure. By using a front three and an aggressive midfield, the team aims to win the ball high up the pitch and strike before the defense can settle.
Bono operates as the last line of defense, providing a reliable presence behind a high line. The back four uses Theo Hernandez as an attacking left back who pushes high to provide width. Koulibaly acts as a ball playing defender who can step into midfield to create an extra man, while Tombakti stays back to cover the space behind him. Al-Harbi completes the defensive unit, often balancing his role by tucking in to form a narrow defensive block when the team loses possession.
The midfield operates as a three man midfield with a carrier and a deep playmaker. Neves sits deep to recycle possession and pick up runners from the back, acting as the primary link between the defense and attack. Kanno works to press aggressively to win the ball high, providing energy to disrupt the opponent. Savić plays in the hole as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to arrive late into the box and exploit gaps between the lines.
Al-Hilal utilizes three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. Benzema acts as a target man who can hold up the ball and find the feet of his teammates. Malcom operates as an inverted winger on the right, frequently looking to cut inside to shoot or create. On the left, Summerville stays wide to provide width and deliver crosses. This front line is designed to create runs in behind and isolate wide players in one on one situations during transitions.
A major advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the front three to trigger a press that the midfield quickly supports. Al-Hilal also gains numerical superiority in the central areas when Savić pushes forward. This creates many chances to play through the lines and exploit the space left by advancing opponents.
This 4-3-3 setup is built to dominate possession and suffocate teams that try to build slowly from the back. It is best suited for matches against opponents that struggle to handle high intensity pressing and quick transitions.
