PSG relies on a heavy defensive presence and quick transitions, utilizing a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup is built to sit in a mid-block, absorbing pressure before catching opponents out with direct verticality. The goal for PSG is to keep the center of the pitch crowded while using the wing backs to provide the necessary width for attacking movements.

Eko stays between the posts to manage the defensive line. The back five consists of a central trio and two wing backs. Trimo sits in the middle of the defense to organize the unit, while Asep and Caris act as the wide centre-backs to cover the channels. Endut and Doni act as attacking wing backs, tasked with pushing high up the pitch to provide width. When the team loses the ball, Endut and Doni must track back quickly to restore the back five, while Asep and Caris hold the line to prevent runs in behind.

The midfield functions as a three-man midfield with a carrier. Baihaqi and Jamil operate in the half-spaces to connect the defense and attack, while Arif plays a more central role to shield the defense. Arif works to intercept passes and win the second ball, allowing Baihaqi and Jamil to carry the ball forward into the attacking third. This trio works to compress the midfield when defending, forcing the opposition to play wide. They must also be ready to receive the ball from the center-backs to start building play through the thirds.

Up front, the team uses two forwards in a partnership. Rudi and Feri act as the primary threats, often looking to run in behind the opposition defense. Feri can hold up the ball to allow Rudi to make runs into the box or find space between the lines. The forwards are expected to press from the front to trigger a press in the mid-block. By staying central, Rudi and Feri force the opposition defenders to stay narrow, which creates space for Endut and Doni to overlap the winger and deliver crosses into the box.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to defend zonally with high numbers in the box. The presence of three central defenders makes PSG very difficult to break down through the middle. Furthermore, the team can create wide overloads as Endut and Doni push up, effectively turning the lineup into a 3-5-2 when in possession. This flexibility allows the team to switch play rapidly to the flanks to exploit isolated defenders.
