Lazzari operates as an overlapping full back to provide width on the right, while Tagliafico acts as a defensive wing back to balance the left side. The unit works together to hold a compact shape when the team drops into a mid-block.

The midfield uses a three-man midfield with a carrier to link the lines. Rovella plays as a single pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession. Frattesi acts as an inverted eight, driving forward with the ball to join the attack and arriving late into the box. Amad plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to find the feet of Retegui or play through the lines. This trio works to press in pairs and squeeze the space between the lines to deny the opponent any easy passing lanes.

Lazio uses three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Retegui acts as a pressing centre-forward, using his strength to hold up the ball and fight for second balls. Berardi plays as an inverted winger on the right, cutting inside to create shooting lanes, while Zaccagni operates on the left to whip it in or cut it back from the byline. These forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. The attacking unit focuses on combinations in tight spaces and quick transitions to hit in behind on the transition.
