OLAVE stays between the posts to command his area. The defensive unit functions as a back five where VIDELA acts as the central man to sweep behind the line. C. PÉREZ and AVELDAÑO operate as the wide centre-backs to cover the spaces behind the wing backs. SARAVIA and BARRIOS act as attacking wing backs who provide the width and push up the flanks. This lineup allows the team to defend zonally and keep a narrow block when the opposition has the ball.

The midfield relies on a three-man midfield with a carrier and creative links. RIGONI and FARRE occupy the central spaces to shield the defence and win the second ball. MANCUELLO plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers to connect the lines. He finds the feet of the forwards or carries the ball forward to create chances.
