Darius and Mark act as the central strikers, with one often playing as a pressing centre forward to pin the last defender. Badea and Baroiu operate as wide wingers, with Badea cutting inside from the left and Baroiu looking to get to the byline on the right to whip it in. This lineup is designed to create runs in behind and exploit the spaces left by a retreating defense.

One major tactical strength is the ability to create wide overloads by using the full backs to support the wingers. Romania also benefits from the speed of transition when the double pivot wins the ball and quickly finds the front four. The sheer numbers in the box during attacking phases make it difficult for opponents to defend the near post or the far post effectively.
