LASK Football Formation
Starting Lineup
R. Ljubicic · Jørgensen · Andrade · Tornich · Usor · Danek · Lang · Horvath · Schöpf · Jungwirth · AdeniranLASK focuses on heavy verticality and winning the ball back high up the pitch using a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup is built to overwhelm the opposition in the final third by packing the middle and the wings with players ready to attack. The goal is to use high energy to force mistakes and strike quickly before the defense can settle.
Jungwirth operates between the posts to organize the small defensive unit. The back line consists of a narrow pair of central defenders, Tornich and Andrade, who must stay tight to prevent through balls. They play a high line to squeeze the space, with Andrade often acting as a ball playing defender to start attacks. Both defenders need to be ready to cover the large spaces behind them if the opposition hits in behind on the transition.
The midfield is the engine of this LASK formation, utilizing a five man block to control the center. R. Ljubicic and Jørgensen act as a double pivot to shield the defense and win second balls. Ahead of them, Horvath and Schöpf operate in the half spaces to link the play, while Lang plays as an attacking ten to find pockets of space. This group works to press in a mid block or trigger a press when the ball enters their zone, ensuring the midfield is never bypassed easily.
The attacking front three uses wide wingers to stretch the defense while maintaining a central threat. Danek and Usor operate as wide wingers who stay high to pin the opposition full backs, creating space for the midfielders to arrive late into the box. Adeniran acts as a pressing centre forward, working to harass the defenders and hold up the ball for the incoming runners. The formation creates many combinations through the middle, often looking to play through the lines to isolate Danek or Usor in one on one situations.
This setup offers significant numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch to dominate possession. LASK can also create wide overloads when the wingers and central midfielders combine to pull the defense apart. The ability to press in coordinated waves makes it very difficult for opponents to play out from the back without losing the ball in dangerous areas.
This formation is a high risk high reward system designed to dominate matches through aggressive pressing and central control. It is best suited for games against opponents who struggle to play under pressure or those who sit deep in a low block.
