Starting Lineup
Mandas (Corvi/Rinaldi) · Valeri (Fortini) · Sergi Dominguez (Diego Carlos) · Troilo (Ndiaye/Drobnic) · Delprato (Britschgi) · Keita (Belahyane) · Bernabé (Nicolussi Caviglia) · Fabbian (Cremaschi) · El Bilal Touré (Frigan/Elphege) · Dominguez (Lontani/Diallo) · Zeballos (Strefezza)Parma seeks to control matches through a direct and vertical style of play, utilizing a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup relies on quick transitions to catch the opposition out of position and uses wide areas to stretch the pitch. The team aims to win the ball back high up the pitch to launch immediate attacks toward the goal.
Mandas acts as the last line of defense in goal. The defensive unit functions as a back three with Keita positioned as the central defender to hold the line and defend zonally. Sergi Dominguez operates as the left centre-back to cover space, while Troilo plays as the right centre-back to win the header and clear the lines. Ahead of them, Delprato and Valeri act as attacking wing backs who provide width. Delprato pushes up the right flank to overlap the winger, while Valeri works the left side to deliver early crosses into the box.
The midfield utilizes a double pivot to manage the center of the pitch. Bernabé acts as the deep lying playmaker to recycle possession and find the feet of the striker. Fabbian plays as the more mobile side of the pair to drive forward with the ball and arrive late into the box. This duo works to protect the back three and connects the defensive unit to the front three, ensuring the team can transition from a mid block to an attacking phase quickly.
In the attacking phase, Parma uses three attackers to pin the last defender. El Bilal Touré acts as the lone striker, using his physical presence to hold up the ball and fight for second balls. Zeballos plays as an inverted winger on the right to cut inside and create chances, while Dominguez stays wide on the left to stretch the defence. These forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition, creating opportunities for the team to win the ball back in advanced areas.
This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to create wide overloads when Delprato and Valeri push high. Parma can also achieve great compactness when defending in a low block, making it difficult for opponents to play through the lines. The speed of transition allows the team to exploit space behind the opposition defense quickly once the midfield wins the ball.
Parma uses this 5-2-3 formation to punish teams that leave space behind their full backs. It is a highly effective setup for facing opponents that commit many players forward in attack.
