Timber plays as a right wing back to provide width, while Calafiori operates as the left wing back to overlap the winger. This defensive unit can shift between a back five and a back three depending on how high the team pushes.

The midfield operates as a two-man engine room. Rice acts as the single pivot who shields the defense and breaks up play with his high work rate and tackling. Odegaard works as the primary creator, driving forward with the ball and looking to play through the lines to find the attackers. Rice connects the defensive and attacking lines by recycling possession, while Odegaard looks to find pockets of space between the lines to pull wide or cut inside.

Arsenal uses three attackers to stretch the defense. Havertz plays as a pressing centre-forward who holds up the ball and makes runs in behind. Saka acts as an inverted winger on the right, looking to cut inside and create. Tzolis plays on the left to provide directness and width.
