Ballestrero stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back line consists of a central trio with Monti acting as the anchor to command the area. Nasazzi sits as the right centre back to cover wide areas, while Ivković plays as the left centre back. The wing backs, Andrade on the right and Gestido on the left, are tasked with providing width and tracking back to form a five man line when defending deep. They must work hard to recover their positions when the ball is lost.

The midfield relies on a double pivot consisting of Cea and Scarone. These two players must work in close proximity to compress the midfield and protect the central defenders. Cea and Scarone are required to win the second ball and quickly find the forwards to start the counter attack. They connect the defensive unit to the front three, ensuring that the team can transition from a low block to an attacking stance without losing control of the center of the pitch.

In the final third, the team uses three attackers to stretch the opposition defence. Patenaude plays as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and link play with the wide players. Castro operates on the left wing and Stábile stays on the right wing to provide width. These attackers are expected to press the opposition back line to force errors.
