Starting Lineup

The attack is very aggressive with four players pushing high. Hlozek and Moerstedt play as a central partnership, often working to pin the last defender and win headers. Wimmer and de Cat act as wide wingers, with Wimmer looking to cut inside and de Cat to spread the width of the pitch. This front line is designed to press from the front and create runs in behind, often looking to hit the opposition on the transition through quick combinations.

One major advantage for Hoffenheim is the ability to create wide overloads when Coufal and Rots push forward to support the wingers. The formation also allows for intense pressing in coordinated waves, making it difficult for the opponent to play out from the back. This high line can create many chances through speed of transition and rapid verticality.
