Starting Lineup

JERE (1) · SANTI · CARITA · PAZ · CHINO · MARCIANO · JOSE · CAFE · NAHUE · FABIAN · MAURI

This team operates with an intense focus on controlling the middle of the pitch through a 2-6-2 formation. The tactical identity centers on a heavy midfield presence designed to dominate possession and squeeze the space in the center. By packing the middle, the lineup seeks to overwhelm opponents and create passing lanes through a crowded central zone.

JERE stays between the posts to oversee the defensive unit. Behind the massive midfield block, PAZ and CARITA operate as a back two. They must stay compact and defend zonally to protect the central area. Because there are only two central defenders, they often have to step up to intercept passes or cover large spaces if the midfield is bypassed. They rely on being able to clear the lines quickly when the opposition hits in behind.

The midfield is the engine of this formation, using a six man block to control the game. SANTI and CHINO act as a double pivot to shield the defence and protect the two central defenders. JOSE and MARCIANO occupy the central roles to recycle possession and link the play. CAFE and NAHUE push further forward to operate in the half spaces, with NAHUE acting as an attacking ten to find the feet of the strikers. This large group aims to win the second ball and press from the front to win it back high up the pitch.

The attacking unit relies on two forwards working in a partnership. FABIAN and MAURI lead the line, looking to exploit any gaps left by the opposition. They do not stay isolated but work to combine in tight spaces to pull defenders out of position. The movement of the six midfielders allows the forwards to receive the ball in dangerous areas, often looking to receive on the half turn. They also press the opposition back line to force a long ball and keep the game in the opponent half.

One major advantage of this lineup is the immense numerical superiority in midfield, which allows the team to keep the ball and control the tempo. The heavy central block makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the lines. Another strength is the ability to squeeze the space, making it hard for the opposition to find any room to breathe. This setup is perfect for teams that want to pin the opponent back and dominate the ball.

This formation relies on a massive midfield to dictate the rhythm of the match. It is best suited for games where the team can exploit a tired opponent through constant central pressure and possession.
