Everton focuses on a direct and high pressing style of play using a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and strike quickly before the opposition can settle. Jordan stays between the posts to organize the back line. The defensive unit operates as a flat back four with Merlin acting as a defensive wing back to provide cover on the right. James plays as a right centre back to sit deep and cover space, while Jarrad provides strength and aerial dominance in the air at left centre back. Vitaliy pushes up the left flank to provide width, while the defensive line works to hold the line and set the offside trap.

The midfield functions with a three man midfield containing a carrier and creators. James operates in the left central midfield role to shield the defence and win the second ball. Harrison works as a right central midfielder to drive forward with the ball and link the lines. Kiernan plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to find pockets of space and play through the lines. This midfield unit works to compress the midfield and press in a mid-block to prevent the opposition from playing out from the back.

The attack features three forwards working in coordination to pin the last defender. Tyrique plays as a wide winger on the left who likes to cut inside to find goal scoring opportunities. Iliman stays wide on the right to stretch the defence and deliver crosses. Thierno operates as a pressing centre forward, tasked to hold up the ball and lead the line. This front three works to trigger a press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

Everton offers several tactical advantages through this formation. The team can create wide overloads when Vitaliy and Tyrique push high together. The presence of Kiernan allows for numerical superiority in the attacking third to exploit spaces between the lines. The coordinated pressing from Thierno and the midfield helps to win it back high up the pitch to launch immediate attacks.
