Coventry relies on a high press and verticality to overwhelm opponents using a 4-2-4. By spreading the pitch, Coventry aims to stretch the defence and create massive gaps in the middle of the park.

Daniel sits between the posts to organize the defensive line. The back four consists of Kaine and Aurèle as the central defenders, with Ethan and Jake occupying the left and right sides. Kaine and Aurèle act as ball playing defenders to start attacks, while Ethan provides cover. Jake and Kaine must hold the line to prevent runners from getting behind, while Jake plays as an attacking full back to provide width. The defensive unit must stay compact to avoid being bypassed by long balls.

The midfield operates as a double pivot to provide stability. Matt and Victor occupy the central roles to shield the defence and recycle possession. Matt works to win the second ball and protect the space in front of the centre backs. Victor drives forward with the ball to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Together, they must press in a mid-block and ensure they do not get overrun when the team pushes high up the pitch.

Coventry uses four attackers to pin the last defender and create chaos. Sidiki and Ellis lead the line as a two forwards partnership, acting as a pressing centre-forward duo to force errors. Raphael and Tatushiro occupy the wings as inverted wingers who cut inside to create scoring chances. This attacking group is designed to create runs in behind and allow for cutbacks from the byline. When attacking, the goal is to use the wide players to stretch the pitch before looking to find the feet of the striker.

A major strength of this lineup is the ability to create wide overloads and press high in coordinated waves. With four players advanced, Coventry can quickly win the ball back and counter at pace. The presence of Sidiki and Ellis allows for strong link-up play between the lines, making it hard for a back four to mark everyone. This creates many one on one situations for Raphael and Tatushiro on the flanks.

This 4-2-4 formation focuses on aggressive attacking and rapid transitions. It is best suited for matches where Coventry needs to break down a deep block or exploit a team that plays a high line.
