Inter relies on a high press and rapid transitions to unsettle the opposition using a 3-5-2. This formation is built to control the center of the pitch while using wing players to stretch the defense. The team looks to win the ball high up the pitch and move through the thirds with speed.

Josep guards the goal as the starting goalkeeper. In front of him, the back three of Yann, Aleksandar, and Benjamin forms a narrow defensive block. Yann operates as the left centre-back, while Benjamin takes the right centre-back role. Aleksandar sits in the middle to sweep behind a high line and win the header when the ball is played long. This unit works to squeeze the space between the lines and hold the line when the team is under pressure.

The midfield relies on a three-man midfield with a carrier to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Petar and Piotr work as the central duo to shield the defense and recycle possession. Henrikh plays as the attacking ten behind the strikers to find the feet of the attackers and play through the lines. On the flanks, Carlos and Luís act as wide midfielders who spread wide to provide width. They are tasked to cover the wide areas and track back to help the back three when defending.

Inter uses two forwards in a partnership to lead the attack. Pio and Ange-Yoan operate as the striking duo, looking to make runs in behind the opposition defense. Pio acts as a target man to hold up the ball, allowing Ange-Yoan to arrive late into the box. The front line will press from the front to force a long ball from the opponent. When moving in transition, the team looks to hit in behind on the transition using the width provided by Carlos and Luís to deliver early crosses.

A major strength for Inter is the numerical superiority in midfield which allows them to control the tempo of the game. The ability to use Carlos and Luís to provide wide overloads helps to stretch the defense and create gaps in the middle. This formation also provides compactness when defending in a mid-block, making it very difficult for opponents to play through the center.

This 3-5-2 formation is built for teams that want to dominate the central areas while remaining dangerous on the break. It is best suited for matches against opponents who play with a narrow midfield and struggle to deal with wide runners.
