Milan relies on a high press and quick transitions using a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the middle of the pitch and squeeze the space when the opposition has the ball. The team looks to win it back high up the pitch to catch the opponent before they can set their defensive line.

MIKE sits between the posts to command his area. Behind him, a back three of MARIO, STRAHINJA, and FIKAYO work to maintain a high line. MARIO acts as the central figure to organize the unit, while STRAHINJA and FIKAYO cover the wider channels. The defenders focus on staying compact and using their presence to clear the lines when the ball is played into the box.

The midfield works as a central engine to control the tempo. A three man midfield with a carrier setup allows RUBEN to drive forward with the ball and connect the defensive and attacking lines. ADRIEN operates alongside him to protect the center and intercept passes. LUKA plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers, looking to find the feet of the attackers or arrive late into the box. On the flanks, DIEGO and ALEXIS act as wing backs to provide width and stretch the defence.

Up front, Milan uses two forwards in a partnership to pressure the opposition back line. GONÇALO and CHRISTIAN work in close combinations to create chaos. GONÇALO often holds up the ball to allow others to join the play, while CHRISTIAN looks to make runs in behind the defenders. DIEGO and ALEXIS push high to support this front line, often overlapping the winger to deliver crosses into the area.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using five midfielders, Milan can create numerical superiority in midfield to win the second ball easily. The wing backs, DIEGO and ALEXIS, also allow for wide overloads that force the opposition to pull their defenders out of position.

Milan uses this 3-5-2 to overwhelm opponents in the center of the park. It is a setup best suited for games where the team needs to dominate possession and apply heavy pressure.
