The midfield functions as a three man midfield with a carrier to drive the play. OUSSAMA and MIKEL occupy the central spaces to shield the defense and win the second ball. MIKEL works to connect the defensive and attacking lines by receiving the ball from the back four. TOMMASO plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to find the pockets of space between the lines. This central trio works to compress the midfield and deny the turn to opposing players.

Bologna utilizes three attackers across the front to stretch the defense. ROBERTO acts as a pressing centre forward to lead the hunt from the front.
