The midfield functions as a three-man midfield with a carrier and a creative link. E.Ampadu acts as the single pivot to shield the defence and break up play. A.Tanaka works as an inverted eight to connect the defensive and attacking lines, often moving to win the second ball. B.Aaronson plays as the attacking ten behind the striker, looking to arrive late into the box and press aggressively in a mid-block or high line.
