Starting Lineup

Umar · Ethan · Chino · Zierie · Gio · Dayyaan · Mieky · Meeks · Vortex · Zaid · Niyaaz

Man City looks to dominate through a high press and direct attacking play with a 4-2-4. This formation is built to stretch the defence and pin the last defender back by utilizing immense width and verticality. The goal is to win the ball back high up the pitch and hit in behind on the transition as quickly as possible.

Vortex operates between the posts to organize the back line. The defensive unit utilizes a flat back four where Dayyaan and Mieky act as full backs to provide width. Dayyaan pushes high to overlap the winger while Mieky provides cover on the left. In the middle, Chino and Zierie form a central pairing tasked with winning the second ball and defending zonally. They must hold the line and stay compact to avoid being caught out when the team commits bodies forward.

The midfield consists of a double pivot with Niyaaz and Zaid working to control the center. Niyaaz acts as the primary shield for the defence, often dropping deep to receive the ball from the centre backs. Zaid plays as a carrier to drive forward with the ball and connect the defensive and attacking lines. This pairing must stay disciplined to prevent opponents from playing through the lines, as the gap between the midfield and the front four can be large.

Up front, Man City employs a heavy attacking lineup with four players. Meeks and Ethan act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to pull the opposition defence apart. Meeks prefers to cut inside to create chances while Ethan looks to get to the byline and whip it in. In the central zone, Umar and Gio operate as two forwards in a partnership. Umar acts as a pressing centre forward to trigger a press, while Gio looks to find the feet of the striker and link up play in the pockets.

This lineup offers massive attacking presence and the ability to create wide overloads. The presence of four dedicated attackers allows Man City to pin the opposition in their own half and win it back high up the pitch. By spreading the width through Mieky, Dayyaan, Meeks, and Ethan, the team can stretch the defence and create space in the middle for the forwards to combine in tight spaces.

The 4-2-4 formation is designed for high intensity and rapid attacks. It is best suited for games where the opponent sits deep in a low block and needs to be pulled out of position.
