The wide defenders, AI and Dayyaan, are tasked with providing width and can push high to overlap the attackers. AI works to balance the left flank while Dayyaan supports the right, ensuring the defensive unit stays compact when the team drops into a mid-block to deny the turn.

The midfield utilizes a double pivot to control the center of the pitch. Captain Jama sits in the left central midfield role to shield the defense and recycle possession, often dropping deep to receive play from the back. Niyaaz operates as the other side of the pivot, looking to drive forward with the ball and carry it into the half spaces. Together, Jama and Niyaaz act as the link between the defensive line and the heavy front line, tasked with breaking the line with direct passes.

Man City employs four attackers to stretch the defense across the pitch. Meeks and Ethan act as wide wingers, with Meeks hugging the touchline on the left and Ethan cutting inside from the right to find space. In the center, Umar and Gio work as a duo of forwards. Umar acts as a pressing centre-forward to trigger the press, while Gio works to find space between the lines to link up with the midfield. This front four is designed to create runs in behind and exploit the space left by an advancing opposition.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to press high in coordinated waves. By committing four players to the front, Man City can quickly win it back high up the pitch. Another strength is the ability to isolate wide players in one on one situations once Ethan or Meeks beat their markers. The team can also create wide overloads when Dayyaan or AI join the attacking movement.
