BAUR (75) · KUZMANOVIĆ (83)Barça Atlètic focuses on a high press and aggressive ball recovery using a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the pitch through high positioning and heavy pressure on the opposition. The goal is to win the ball high up the pitch and immediately look to play through the lines to create scoring chances.
MUNKOMBWE guards the goal as the last line of defense. The back four operates with a high line to squeeze the space between the units. C. PARKER and R. BLASCO act as the central pair, where they must be ready to step up and intercept passes or cover space if a teammate is beaten. DEVILLIERS operates as a right back tasked with providing width, while MOHASSES plays as a left back to help recycle possession. The whole defensive unit works together to keep the distance between the back line and the midfield very small.
A three man midfield provides the engine for the Barça Atlètic system. B. BOOTH sits in the single pivot role to shield the defense and drop between the centre backs to receive the ball. To his sides, AZIM HAKIM and E. GIMÉNEZ act as the left and right interior midfielders. AZIM HAKIM and E. GIMÉNEZ are responsible for connecting the defensive and attacking lines, with one often driving forward with the ball while the other holds a position to prevent counter attacks. They must press aggressively to win the ball back in the middle third.
The attacking structure utilizes three attackers to stretch the opposition defense. KUZMANOVIĆ acts as the lone striker and is tasked to find the feet of the striker or run in behind the defensive line. On the flanks, T. BAUR and O. WEISS operate as wide wingers who often cut inside to create overloads in the half spaces. This movement allows them to isolate a one on one wide or combine in tight spaces near the box. The front three press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.
One major advantage for this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it hard for opponents to build from the back. Another strength is the numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch when the full backs push up to support the attackers. The team can also transition quickly, using the width provided by the wingers to spread the defense and create gaps in the center.
This 4-3-3 formation is built to control games through high intensity and ball dominance. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play out from the back under heavy pressure.
