S. Velasco stays between the posts to organize the defensive unit. Behind him, B. Kwieciński acts as the central defender to hold the line and command the area. E. Machado plays as the right centre-back to cover the space behind the wingers, while E. De Meyer operates as the left centre-back. This back three functions as a narrow defensive block that can shift to squeeze the space when the opposition tries to build play.

The midfield operates as a five man unit with a strong presence in the center. A. Radulović and M. Puig form a double pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession. E. Pujol, Gorka Luque, and S. Johnson act as the central trio to connect the defensive and attacking lines. M. Puig helps to progress through the thirds, while A. Radulović works to intercept passes and deny the pivot of the other team. Gorka Luque and S. Johnson provide the engine to drive forward with the ball and support the attack.

Deportivo utilizes two forwards in a partnership to lead the press from the front. R. Rossell and G. Chraïbi work together to pin the last defender and create runs in behind. R. Rossell looks to find the feet of the striker to link up play, while G. Chraïbi works to stretch the defence by making runs into the channels. The attackers press the opposition back line constantly to trigger a press from the midfield. This combination allows the team to attack in short bursts and move the ball quickly into the box.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through a crowded midfield. Deportivo can create numerical superiority in the center to win the second ball and maintain control. The presence of five players in the middle allows the team to compress the midfield and force a long ball from the opponent. When the team wins the ball back high up the pitch, they can immediately exploit the space left by attacking teams.
