Fofana sits deeper to intercept passes and win the second ball, while Monteiro acts as a carrier to drive forward with the ball. Ilic operates on the right side of the midfield to help link the play, while Fatah plays in the advanced role as an attacking ten to connect the midfield to the front line. This group works to compress the midfield and deny the turn to the opposition.

Lecce utilizes two forwards in a partnership to lead the attack. Geubbels plays as a left striker and Stulic operates as a right striker. These two forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. They look to run in behind the defensive line and use link-up play between the lines to create chances. The team aims to use the two strikers to pin the last defender and create space for Fatah to arrive late into the box.
