The midfield works in a four man block to control the central areas and provide width. Casadó and Amatucci operate as a double pivot to shield the defense and recycle possession. Casadó works to drive forward with the ball while Amatucci looks to intercept play and protect the two center backs. On the flanks, Angeliño and Noubi act as wide midfielders who provide constant width. Angeliño is tasked to overlap the wingers to deliver crosses, while Noubi helps to stretch the defence and link the midfield to the front line.

Deportivo utilizes four attackers to pin the last defender and create chaos. Yeremay and Soriano act as inverted wingers who cut inside to create goal scoring chances, often leaving space for the wide midfielders to use. In the center, Bil Nsongo and Aubameyang operate as two forwards in a partnership. Aubameyang uses his pace to run in behind while Bil Nsongo works to hold up the ball and find the feet of the strikers. This front line is designed to press from the front and force the opposition into mistakes.
