Brighton looks to dominate through high intensity and rapid verticality, utilizing a 2-4-4 formation. This lineup is built to press from the front and win the ball back high up the pitch to catch opponents out of position. The goal is to stretch the defence and create chaos through quick transitions and heavy numbers in the final third.

Verbruggen acts as the lone man between the posts, playing short from the back to start the build up. The defensive line uses a narrow two man block consisting of Vuskovic and Dunk. Dunk provides aerial strength and leadership, while Vuskovic acts as a ball playing defender to help progress through the thirds. Because there are only two central defenders, the unit must hold the line and stay compact to prevent being split by long balls.

The midfield operates as a four man unit to control the central areas and connect the defence to the attack. Kadioglu sits in the pivot role to shield the two centre backs and deny the pivot of the opposition. Beside him, Wieffer and Gross work to control the tempo, with Gross looking to play through the lines and find the feet of the striker. Chema provides additional coverage to ensure the midfield can press in pairs and prevent the opposition from playing through the middle.

Brighton employs a heavy front four to pin the last defender and create constant pressure. Mitoma operates as an inverted winger on the left, looking to cut inside and drive at the defence with his dribbling. On the right, Minteh plays as an attacking winger to provide width and stretch the opposition. Hinshelwood and Georginio act as two forwards in a partnership, with one looking to hold up the ball while the other makes runs in behind to exploit space.

This formation offers significant advantages in terms of attacking numbers and high pressing. The heavy presence of four attackers allows Brighton to press from the front and force a long ball from the opposition. By using a four man midfield, the team can achieve numerical superiority in the center to recycle possession and wait for the right moment to hit in behind on the transition.

The 2-4-4 formation creates a high risk and high reward identity centered on aggressive attacking. It is best suited for games where Brighton can squeeze the space and dominate teams that struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
