Starting Lineup

Andersen · Bassey · Affengruber · Castagne · Robinson · G. García · Bobb · Smith Rowe · Berge · King · Leno

Fulham focus on a direct and vertical style of play using a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to exploit width and press the opponent high to win the ball back in advanced areas. The goal is to create quick transitions that catch the opposition out of position through heavy movement in the final third.

Leno operates between the posts to command the area and start attacks. The defensive unit works as a back three with Andersen acting as the central anchor to sweep behind the line. Bassey and Affengruber provide cover on either side, with Andersen often stepping into midfield to help progress the ball. The defenders must hold a high line to squeeze the space and keep the team compact when the opposition tries to play out from the back.

A central midfield duo of Berge and King handles the transition between defense and attack. Berge works to shield the back three and wins the second ball to keep play moving, while King looks to carry the ball forward and connect the lines. The midfield operates in a way that allows them to press aggressively in a mid-block. Robinson and Castagne act as wide midfielders who provide the necessary width, often pushing up to overlap the attackers and stretch the defense.

The attacking unit utilizes three players across the front to pin the last defender. G. García acts as the lone striker to lead the line and hold up the ball, providing a focal point for the team. Smith Rowe and Bobb occupy the wide areas as inverted wingers who cut inside to create chances in the half spaces. This movement creates space for Robinson and Castagne to whip it in from the flanks or deliver early crosses. The front three press in pairs to force a long ball from the opposition.

Fulham possess significant tactical advantages through their wide overloads. By having Robinson and Castagne push high, the team creates numerical superiority against the opposing full backs. This formation also allows for a highly coordinated press in the final third, making it difficult for opponents to find a clean passing lane. The ability to shift from a compact defensive block to a rapid counter at pace makes them dangerous in transition.

This 3-4-3 formation is designed for a high tempo game that relies on physical presence and quick ball movement. It is best suited for facing teams that play a high line and leave space behind their defenders.
