Starting Lineup

Persib relies on a heavy defensive presence and quick transitions using a 5-3-2. The team looks to sit deep and soak up pressure before launching direct attacks. This formation is built to play a reactive game where the primary goal is to deny space in the middle and strike on the break.

Teja stays between the posts to command the area and organize the back line. The defensive unit works as a back five with Klok acting as the central anchor to sweep behind the line. Barba and Gabinho play as the wide centre backs to cover the channels and win the second ball. Kakang acts as a right wing back to provide width and support the flank, while Eliano plays as a left wing back to push up and join the attack. The defensive unit stays compact to squeeze the space between the lines.

A three man midfield provides the engine for Persib. Haye operates as the single pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession. Menalo and Peralta play as the two central midfielders to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Haye works to disrupt play and win the ball high up the pitch when necessary. Menalo and Peralta look to carry the ball forward and find the feet of the strikers during the transition. The midfield works to deny the turn of opposition players and maintain a compact shape.

The attacking line uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the opposition. Baros plays as the left striker to lead the press from the front and chase long balls. Balsa acts as the right striker to link up play and make runs in behind the defence. The forwards work to pin the last defender and create space for the wing backs to overlap. Persib builds out of possession by staying narrow and uses the width provided by Kakang and Eliano to spread the defence when they win the ball back.

The formation offers clear tactical advantages such as a very solid defensive block that is hard to break down. Persib can use the wing backs to create wide overloads when they move into a more attacking stance. The presence of two strikers allows the team to hit in behind on the transition very effectively. This setup makes it difficult for opponents to play through the middle.

Persib uses this formation to maintain a compact defensive unit while remaining dangerous on the counter. It is best suited for facing teams that dominate possession and play with high lines.
