Johnstone stays between the posts to manage the defense from the back. The back line operates as a flat back four with Johnston acting as a defensive wing back to cover the right flank. Carter-Vickers and Trusty form the central pairing, with Carter-Vickers acting as a ball playing defender to start attacks and Trusty providing strength to win the header. Tierney pushes up as an attacking full back on the left to provide width and deliver crosses. The defensive unit works together to maintain a high line and squeeze the space.

The midfield relies on a double pivot to hold the center of the pitch. Oliver Sørensen and Baur sit in front of the back four to shield the defense and recycle possession. Sørensen works to carry the ball forward and connect the defensive and attacking lines, while Baur focuses on pressing aggressively to win the ball high. This duo must work hard to cover the ground left behind by the advancing full backs and ensure the team does not get caught on the transition.

The attacking structure is built around two central forwards and two wide players. Nygren and Høgh operate as a partnership in the center, with one acting as a target man to hold up the ball while the other looks to run in behind. Jota plays as an inverted winger on the left, cutting inside to create chances or shoot, while Hassan occupies the right wing to spread the defense wide. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball and create opportunities to win the second ball in the attacking third.

Celtic gains a significant advantage through the ability to create wide overloads when the full backs join the attack. The high numbers in the box also allow the team to attack the near post and far post with multiple options. By using the pace of the wide players, the team can isolate wide players in one on one situations to break the line.
