LASK Football Formation
Starting Lineup
R. Ljubicic · Jørgensen · Andrade · Tornich · Usor · Danek · Elfadli · Horvath · Schöpf · Jungwirth · KalajdzicLASK operates with a high press and a strong focus on verticality through a 3-5-2. The team looks to win the ball high up the pitch and move through the lines with speed. This formation is built to dominate the middle of the park and create overloads in the final third.
Jungwirth stays between the posts to organize the back line. The defensive unit consists of a back three with Andrade, Tornich, and Elfadli. Andrade acts as the left center back to cover wide areas, while Tornich and Elfadli provide strength in the center to win the second ball. This back three can shift into a narrow defensive block when the team sits deep.
The midfield is a crowded engine room consisting of a five man unit. Danek plays as the attacking ten behind the strikers to create chances. Horvath and Schöpf operate as two central midfielders who connect the defensive and attacking lines, with Schöpf often tasked to carry the ball forward. R. Ljubicic and Jørgensen provide width from the flanks, acting as wide midfielders who can press aggressively to win the ball high. They are required to track back and cover the space behind the advanced players to maintain balance.
LASK uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the defence. Usor and Kalajdzic lead the line, working in combinations to find pockets of space. Usor often plays as the pressing centre forward to disrupt the opposition build up, while Kalajdzic acts as the focal point to hold up the ball. The team looks to hit in behind on the transition, using the wide presence of R. Ljubicic and Jørgensen to deliver crosses or cutbacks from the byline.
A major advantage for LASK is the numerical superiority in midfield, which allows the team to control the tempo and recycle possession. The coordination of the five midfielders makes it difficult for opponents to play through the center. Furthermore, the team can quickly transition from a mid block to an attack, using the speed of the forwards to catch the opposition out of position.
This 3-5-2 formation provides a compact presence that is difficult to break down centrally. It is best suited for games against teams that prefer to play through the middle rather than using the wings.
