Starting Lineup

GK · FB · BPD · BPD · FB · DLP · CM · BBM · IF · IF · DLF

A focus on high pressing and aggressive verticality defines this lineup in a 4-3-3 formation. The team looks to win the ball high up the pitch and move forward quickly to catch the opposition out of position. This system is built to control the tempo through heavy ball pressure and rapid transitions.

GK acts as the last line of defense, staying alert to sweep behind the back line when the team pushes high. The defense operates as a flat back four with FB on the left and FB on the right acting as wide defenders to provide width. In the center, BPD and BPD serve as ball playing defenders, looking to play short from the back to build play. These two central defenders must be comfortable carrying the ball forward to help the midfield if the press is broken.

In the center of the pitch, a single pivot system provides the base for the midfield. DLP sits in front of the defense to shield the back four and recycle possession when the tempo needs to slow down. Ahead of the pivot, BBM and CM act as the engine room, with BBM working to press aggressively and CM looking to connect the lines. This three man midfield works to compress the midfield and ensure the team maintains a compact shape when the ball is lost.

The attacking unit employs three forwards to stretch the opposition defense. DLF operates as a deep lying forward, dropping into the space between the midfield and defense to link up play and find the feet of others. On the flanks, IF and IF act as inverted wingers who cut inside to occupy the half spaces, creating room for the full backs to overlap. This movement forces the opposition defenders to make difficult decisions about whether to follow the runners or hold the line.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the front three to trigger a press that the midfield can quickly join. The use of inverted wingers also creates wide overloads when the FB players push up to provide support. This setup allows for quick transitions where the team can hit in behind on the transition through the pace of the wide players.

This 4-3-3 formation relies on high intensity and quick ball movement to overwhelm opponents. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play out from the back or those that leave large gaps between their midfield and defensive lines.
