On the flanks, Óscar and Tyrick operate as attacking full backs, looking to push up and provide width. This defensive unit works to squeeze the space between the lines and hold a compact shape when the team drops into a mid-block.

The midfield functions with a three-man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten. Quinten and Adam work to control the center, with Quinten acting as a shield to deny the pivot and Adam looking to drive forward with the ball. Daichi plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, operating in the pockets to link the midfield to the attack. This trio is responsible for winning the second ball and recycling possession to move the team up the pitch.

In the attacking phase, Crystal Palace employs three attackers across the front. Jean-Philippe serves as a pressing centre-forward who works to pin the last defender and hold up the ball.
