Levante Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Bardeli · Ratkov · Sotelo · Etta Eyong · T. Fernández · Sánchez · Ndukwe · Dela · Mandi · Romero · RyanLevante focuses on a heavy high press and rapid verticality through a 2-5-3. This formation aims to suffocate the opposition in their own half and win the ball back high up the pitch to catch them out of position. The lineup is built to overwhelm the central areas and create constant chaos through aggressive movement in the final third.
Ryan stays behind a very narrow defensive block consisting of just two central defenders. Mandi and Ndukwe act as the primary line of defense, requiring them to be dominant in the air and quick to cover the space behind them when the team pushes up. Because there are no full backs, Mandi and Ndukwe must hold the line carefully and intercept passes to prevent long balls from bypassing the midfield. They operate in a high line to squeeze the space and keep the team compact.
The midfield is a massive engine room designed to control the center of the pitch. Sánchez and Dela work as a deep-lying playmaker pairing to shield the defense and recycle possession. Bardeli and Sotelo play as two inverted eights who drive forward with the ball and connect the defensive and attacking lines. Romero plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to find pockets of space and play through the lines. This five man midfield unit allows Levante to maintain central dominance and quickly switch play to the flanks.
The attack utilizes three attackers across the front to stretch the opposition. Ratkov acts as a pressing centre-forward who tries to pin the last defender and fight for every ball. On the flanks, T. Fernández plays as an inverted winger who cuts inside to create central overloads, while Etta Eyong works as a wide winger to provide width. This front three is designed to create runs in behind and allow the midfielders to arrive late into the box to support the goal threat.
One major advantage for Levante is the massive numerical superiority in midfield, which makes it very difficult for opponents to build play through the center. The formation also allows for an intense ability to press high in coordinated waves, with the front three triggering a press that the midfield can immediately join. By crowding the middle, the team can force a long ball and use Mandi and Ndukwe to win the second ball.
Levante relies on a high risk high reward system that prioritizes aggression and central congestion. This formation is best suited for games where the opponent struggles to play out from the back under intense pressure.
