Leeds Football Formation
Starting Lineup
JAMES (TRAFFORD) · JAYDEN (BOGLE) · NICO (ELVEDI) · TARIK (MUHAREMOVIC) · GABRIEL (GUDMUNDSSON) · ETHAN (AMPADU) · AO (TANAKA) · ANTON (STACH) · HARRY (WILSON) · NOAH (OKAFOR) · DOMINIC (CALVERT-LEWIN)Leeds relies on a high press and rapid verticality through a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and hit the opposition before they can settle. The goal for Leeds is to use intense energy to squeeze the space and force turnovers in the final third.
James sits between the posts to command his area. A flat back four provides the base for the defensive unit with NICO and TARIK acting as the central defenders. NICO operates as a ball playing defender to help play out from the back while TARIK covers the space behind when the team pushes up. Jayden and Gabriel play as full backs, with Jayden looking to overlap the winger and Gabriel tasked to squeeze the space on the left. The defensive line aims to hold a high line to keep the team compact.
The midfield functions as a three man midfield with a carrier and a creative link. ETHAN works to shield the defence and win the second ball, while AO acts as the driver to carry the ball forward into the half spaces. ANTON plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to connect the midfield and attack. This group is tasked to press in a mid-block and quickly move the ball through the thirds once possession is regained.
Leeds uses three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. DOMINIC acts as a pressing centre-forward to force a long ball from the opposition. HARRY and NOAH operate as inverted wingers who cut inside to create central overloads. This movement creates space for Jayden and Gabriel to push higher. The attack relies on quick combinations and running in behind to exploit gaps left by a high defensive line.
The main advantages of this Leeds formation are the ability to press high in coordinated waves and create wide overloads from overlapping full backs. By using HARRY and NOAH to cut inside, the team creates room for the wide defenders to join the attack. This setup also allows for great speed of transition when the ball is won back.
This 4-3-3 formation focuses on aggressive pressing and quick attacking transitions. It is best suited for games against teams that struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
