MAXIME acts as a ball playing defender to find teammates, while LUKAS is dominant in the air and covers the space behind the high line. The unit stays compact to prevent being split by long balls.

The midfield utilizes a three-man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten. ASSAN and EZECHIEL operate in the central roles to press aggressively and win the second ball. ASSAN works to drive forward with the ball to progress through the thirds, while EZECHIEL helps to shield the defence and recycle possession. BRAJAN plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to link the lines. BRAJAN looks to arrive late into the box and find pockets of space between the lines. This trio allows RB Leipzig to control the tempo and transition from defense to attack.
