PSG plays a high press game focused on quick transitions, utilizing a 5-2-3 formation. The lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and use the width of the field to stretch the opposition. This system relies on intense energy to recover possession and immediate verticality to catch the defense out of position.

Matvey starts between the posts to organize the back line. The defensive unit operates as a back five with Lucas acting as the central anchor. Ilya provides cover as a right center back while Lucas occupies the left center back spot. The wide defenders, Quentin as the right wing back and Lucas as the left wing back, are expected to push high to provide width. This group defends zonally, with the center backs ready to step up and squeeze the space when the team presses.

In the middle of the pitch, PSG uses a double pivot consisting of Warren and Senny. Warren acts as the driver in the midfield, looking to carry the ball forward and link the defense to the attack. Senny works to shield the defense and intercept passes to prevent counters. Together, they must compress the midfield and ensure there is no gap between the back five and the attacking line. They are the engine that allows the team to recycle possession or launch a quick break.

The attacking unit features three players across the front to pin the opposition defense. Ferran acts as a pressing center forward, working to harass the defenders and find space in the channels. On the flanks, Mika plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside, while Maghnes operates on the right to stretch the play. This combination of wide attackers and a central striker creates many chances for runs in behind or cutbacks from the byline when the wing backs overlap.

One major advantage of this PSG formation is the ability to create wide overloads. When Quentin and Lucas push forward, they provide extra support to Mika and Maghnes, often creating two on one situations against the opposition full backs. Another strength is the compactness when defending in a mid-block. By sitting in a narrow defensive block with the five defenders, the team makes it very difficult for opponents to play through the middle.
