Lyon aims to dominate games through a heavy high press and quick verticality using a 4-3-3. This lineup is built to squeeze the opposition in their own half and win the ball back high up the pitch. The goal is to use intense pressing to create chances immediately after winning possession.

Dominik stays between the posts to organize the back line. The defense operates as a flat back four where Zachary plays as a right back to provide width and Nicolás acts as a left back to support the attack. In the center, Moussa and Felix hold the line to prevent runs in behind. Moussa is tasked with covering space while Felix stays tight to mark the striker. The unit works to push up high to compress the space between the lines.

The midfield functions with a three-man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten behind the striker. Corentin plays as the advanced ten to link the play and find the forwards. Tanner and Tyler occupy the central spaces to control the tempo and protect the defense. Tyler is responsible to shield the defense while Tanner seeks to carry the ball forward to break the line. They work together to recycle possession and move the ball from the defensive unit to the attack.

Lyon utilizes three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. Loïs acts as a pressing centre-forward to force long balls from the opposition. On the flanks, Pavel operates as a wide winger who hugs the touchline to provide width, while Keito plays as an inverted winger who cuts inside to create numbers in the middle. This movement allows the team to attack in combinations and create cutbacks from the byline. The forwards press from the front to keep the opposition pinned deep.

This formation offers significant advantages through the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using the front three to trigger a press, Lyon can create quick turnovers. Another strength is the capacity to create wide overloads when Nicolás and Keito move into the same space. This forces the opposition to shift constantly and leaves gaps for Tanner or Corentin to exploit.
