MATTHIEU stays between the posts to manage the defensive unit. The back line functions as a flat back four where LUCK and JUSTIN provide width. LUCK acts as an attacking full back to provide width on the right while JUSTIN covers the left side. In the middle, MAMADY and RAPHAËL must hold the line and defend zonally to protect the space behind the high line. They need to be ready to clear the lines and win the second ball when the opponent tries to bypass the midfield.

The midfield relies on a double pivot consisting of LUCAS and JOSEPH. These two players must work hard to protect the center and shield the defense. JOSEPH and LUCAS act as the engine, tasked to win the ball back and immediately look to play through the lines. They must balance the need to press in a mid-block with the responsibility to cover for the advancing full backs. This duo connects the defense to the front four, making sure the team can recycle possession or go direct.

Brest uses four attackers to create constant pressure on the opposition back line. PATHÉ and GIOVANI act as wide wingers who stay near the touchline to stretch the defense, while PATHÉ looks to cut inside to create chances. MATHIS and DJYLIAN operate as two forwards in a partnership, working to find the feet of the striker or run into the channels. This front four is designed to press from the front, forcing the opponent to play long balls that MAMADY and RAPHAËL can contest.

A major strength of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads when LUCK and JUSTIN push up to overlap the wingers. The team also benefits from the speed of transition, using the four attackers to catch the opponent out of position.
