Arouca plays a high press style within a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and quickly attack the opposition defense. The team looks to use verticality to catch opponents out of position. By pushing the lines high, Arouca aims to squeeze the space in the middle and create turnovers in dangerous areas.

JAKUB stays between the posts to organize the back line. Arouca uses a flat back four where LEO operates as a right back and OREST plays as the left back. These wide defenders are tasked to push up and provide width. DIOGO and JAVI act as the central defensive pair, with DIOGO often looking to step up into midfield to disrupt play. JAVI focuses on holding the line and covering the space behind the full backs. The defensive unit works to maintain a high line to keep the team compact.

The midfield operates as a three-man midfield with a carrier. MATEO and PEDRO sit in the central roles to shield the defense and recycle possession. MATEO acts as a carrier to drive the ball forward, while PEDRO works to win the second ball and connect the lines. PABLO plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to link the midfield to the front three. PABLO looks to find pockets of space between the lines to create chances. This trio helps Arouca transition quickly from defense to attack.

Arouca utilizes three attackers across the front. FALLY operates as a pressing centre-forward to pin the last defender and disrupt the build up play. BRIAN plays as an inverted winger on the left, looking to cut inside and create goal scoring chances. GABRIEL plays as a wide winger on the right to stretch the defense. The attackers use combinations to move the ball through the thirds, often looking for runs in behind or cutbacks from the byline. They press from the front to force a long ball from the opponent.

This formation provides several tactical advantages. The team creates wide overloads when LEO and OREST overlap the wingers to pin the opposition. Arouca also benefits from the ability to press high in coordinated waves, with the front three and PABLO triggering a press. This creates high pressure in the final third. The midfield setup also allows for speed of transition when the ball is won back.
