Rangers Football Formation
Starting Lineup
LIAM (KELLY) · DUJON (STERLING) · JAMES (PENRICE) · OLWETHU (MAKHANYA) · EMMANUEL (FERNANDEZ) · VANJA (DRAGOJEVIC) · DAN (NEIL) · BADREDINE (BOUANANI) · ROSS (McCAUSLAND) · DAISUKE (YOKOTA) · YOUSSEF (CHERMITI)Rangers aim to play a high press game through a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and use verticality to catch the opposition off guard. The team looks to push the tempo and use wide areas to stretch the defense while maintaining a high line to keep the pitch small.
Liam operates as the goalkeeper in this system, acting as the last line of defense when the team plays a high line. The back four features Dujon as the right back and James at left back, both tasked to push up and overlap the wingers. In the center, Olwethu and Emmanuel form a central defensive pair. Olwethu plays as a ball playing defender to help play out from the back, while Emmanuel focuses on covering and winning the second ball. The unit works to squeeze the space and keep the opposition pinned in their own half.
The midfield functions with a three man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten. Dan and Vanja work to connect the defensive and attacking lines, with Dan often looking to drive forward with the ball to break the line. Badredine plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to find pockets of space and arrive late into the box. This midfield group is responsible to press aggressively to win the ball high and ensure the team can quickly transition from defense to attack.
Rangers use three attackers across the front to maintain constant pressure. Youssef acts as a pressing centre forward, making runs in behind to pin the last defender and finding the feet of the striker to link play. Daisuke and Ross operate as wide wingers who hug the touchline to provide width, while also looking to cut inside to create scoring chances. This front line is designed to create combinations in tight spaces and deliver early crosses into the box when the wingers get to the byline.
One major strength for Rangers is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, forcing the opposition into mistakes. The team can also create wide overloads from overlapping full backs, which pulls defenders out of position. This tactical setup creates a lot of pressure on the opposition back line through constant movement and quick passing.
This 4-3-3 formation provides a heavy attacking presence and high defensive intensity. It is best suited for matches where the team wants to dominate possession and force the opponent into a low block.
