Gent plays with a high press and direct intent using a 4-3-3. This formation is built to win the ball high up the pitch and move through the thirds quickly to catch the opposition out of position. The team focuses on aggressive pressing and verticality to stretch the defense.

Kjell acts as the last line of defense in goal. The back line operates as a flat back four, where Gilles plays as an overlapping full back on the right to provide width. Lars provides support from the left, while Matties and Maksim act as the central defensive pair. Matties is tasked with covering the space behind the full backs, while Maksim works to win the second ball and defend zonally. The unit tries to hold a high line to squeeze the space between the lines.

The midfield works as a three-man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten. Leonardo sits in the center to shield the defense and recycle possession. Tibe De operates as an inverted eight, driving forward with the ball to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Aimé plays as the attacking ten in the hole, looking to arrive late into the box or play through the lines to find the forwards. This group works to compress the midfield when out of possession.

Gent utilizes three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Josué acts as the lone striker, working to hold up the ball and find the feet of the midfielders. On the flanks, El Hadji and Hyllarion act as inverted wingers who cut inside to create space for the full backs. El Hadji looks to isolate a one on one wide, while Hyllarion searches for opportunities to hit in behind on the transition. They press from the front to force a long ball from the opponent.

This lineup offers the advantage of being able to press high in coordinated waves to win it back high up the pitch. Gent also benefits from wide overloads when Gilles and El Hadji combine on the right flank. The ability to shift between a compact mid-block and a high press allows the team to control different phases of the game.

Gent relies on a high intensity game that uses the width of the pitch to break down opponents. This formation is best suited for matches against teams that play a high line or struggle to play out from the back.
