PSV plays a high press style focused on rapid transitions and verticality in a 4-3-3. This formation is built to pin the opponent back and win the ball high up the pitch to create immediate scoring chances. The goal is to use the width of the field to stretch the opposition and exploit gaps between the lines.

Matej stays between the posts to manage the defensive line. The back four operates as a high line to squeeze the space in the middle of the pitch. Mauro plays as an attacking left back to provide width while Sergiño provides balance on the right. In the center, Yarek and Lutsharel act as ball playing defenders who look to play short from the back and break the line with direct passes. They must stay disciplined to set the offside trap when the team pushes forward.

The midfield functions as a three man midfield with a carrier to move the team through the thirds. Jerdy and Kodai occupy the central roles, with Jerdy acting to press aggressively to win the ball high. Guus operates as an attacking ten behind the striker, finding pockets of space to link the midfield to the front three. Guus works to connect the defensive and attacking lines, often receiving the ball in the half spaces to turn and drive at the defense.

The attack utilizes three attackers across the front to keep the opposition back line under constant pressure. Ruben and Ivan act as wide wingers who hug the touchline to stretch the defense, with Ruben looking to cut inside and Ivan seeking to isolate a one on one wide. Ricardo plays as a pressing centre-forward to lead the front line. Ricardo is tasked to find the feet of the striker or run in behind to finish chances created by the wide players.

A main strength for PSV is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. The team also finds success through wide overloads when Mauro and Ruben combine to overwhelm the opposition flank. This allows the team to create many chances through cutbacks from the byline or quick combinations in tight spaces.

This 4-3-3 formation relies on high intensity to dominate games through aggressive ball winning. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
