Joris and Alonso work to control the center, with Alonso looking to connect the defensive and attacking lines by receiving the ball from the center backs. Dani plays in the hole as an attacking ten behind the striker, looking to find pockets of space between the opposition midfield and defense. This group works together to win the second ball and progress through the thirds to link the back line to the front three.

In the final third, FC Utrecht utilizes three attackers across the front. Artem plays as a lone striker, acting as a pressing centre-forward to force long balls from the opposition.
