JONAS acts as the last line of defense behind a flat back four. MOUSSA and KEIGO operate as full backs to provide width, while BECIR and FLAVIUS form the central defensive pairing. BECIR and FLAVIUS are tasked to hold the line and protect the area when the team plays a high line. The defenders must squeeze the space between the lines to ensure the unit stays compact during defensive transitions.

The midfield operates with a three man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten. ANDREJ and METINHO work to control the center, with one player often dropping to shield the defense while the other looks to drive forward with the ball. XHERDAN plays in the hole, acting as an attacking ten behind the striker to link the midfield to the attack. XHERDAN is known for his passing range and ability to find pockets of space. This trio works to recycle possession and break the line through clever passing.

In the attacking phase, Basel utilizes three attackers across the front. ZAN operates as a lone striker who works to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. KAZEEM and ASANE act as wide wingers, with KAZEEM looking to cut inside while ASANE stretches the defense by staying wide. The wingers are expected to press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. This setup creates many opportunities for runs in behind and cutbacks from the byline when the full backs overlap.

A major strength for Basel is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using the front three to trigger a press, the midfield can easily step up to intercept passes. Another advantage is the speed of transition, as XHERDAN can quickly find the wingers when the ball is won. This allows the team to hit in behind on the transition before the opponent can get behind the ball.

This 4-3-3 formation relies on aggressive pressing and quick ball movement to dominate games. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play short from the back.
